About Us

The Institute of Food & Grocery Management is a collaboration of industry leaders and faculty from a number of educational institutions and business schools with expertise in the fresh food, grocery and FMCG industries. We provide stimulating, practical and rewarding executive education programs to help managers develop new skills, build their networks and explore leading edge developments from around the world

We run both stand alone business skills programs (management masterclasses) as well as tailored and integrated executive development programs specialising in communication, strategy, business acumen and leadership.

We also run a series of leading industry executive education programs for present and next generation leaders. Each annual program is designed around a specific industry value chain: Food/grocery/FMCG, Meat, Seafood, Drinks/Liquor and Produce. All participants are senior and middle managers and entrepreneurs from all industry segments.

Our history

The Institute of Food and Grocery Management executive programs were developed by Dr. John Morris and Jade Neergaard.

Their model for industry sector executive programs, particularly suited to the Australian and New Zealand region, was formulated based on a week long residential format, involving middle to senior executives from all industry sector levels in the relevant supply chain, interacting and working together in a relaxed academic environment and including both business and personal development. The format is based on presentations from respected global and local industry leaders, guest speakers, specifically developed case studies done in carefully put together work groups and is highly interactive with the participants.

This model was based on John’s 25 plus years of experience with the Cornell University Food Executive Program in the USA and his both academic and business experience with food, beverage, agriculture, distribution, marketing and retail executive education in various parts of the world, including the Oxford Institute of Retail Management and establishment of the Senior Executive Seminar for the Scandinavian Grocery Retail Trade and Industry at the Copenhagen Business School.
